My First Unicorn Beanie!

I had so much fun making this beanie! I hope to have the pattern down soon!

Basic Beanie Pattern

Hello all! Just wanted to share my basic beanie design with you, this is the base i use for most beanie patterns. This pattern works great for any teen to adult sizes. Makes sure to check your gauge before starting the pattern. I can not STRESS how important that is when starting any pattern. It will save you time and little bit of you sanity. Anyways let's proceed:

WHAT YOU WILL NEED: 
-Worsted Weight Yarn
- H Hook
- Scissors
- Yarn Needle or Small Hook (For finishing and hiding strings)

TERMS/STITCHES YOU WILL NEED TO KNOW:
sl st - slip stitch
ch - chain
sc - single crochet
hdc - half double crochet
hdc inc - half double crochet increase
dc - double crochet
dc inc - double crochet increase


GAUGE:
Hdc with H hook
10 stitches across by 4 rows = 3in x 2in

Doesn't measure up?
Too small = Go up a hook size until it matches the gauge.
Too Big = Go down a hook sizing until it matches the gauge.

NOTES:
- The number after the stitch is how many you should stitch.
-When starting a new row, I use "sc, ch 1," for a dc, when starting a new row instead of the typical "ch 2 or 3"

Long Time...No Post! Update on Life!

Hello everyone out there in the world wide web! 

Not sure how long it has been since my last post but I know it's been years...

So after the move, the etsy store didn't work out (various outside forces), and ended up getting a full time job. Well that ended a couple of months ago. Today I had an interview for a part time position with Joann's Fabric and I got the job! So I'm going to still try and get this going! I truly believe that this is something I can accomplish, especially when most of my jobs I've had in my life are all connected to this. I have many patterns I plan to add, along with starting a YouTube channel. I want to share my tips, tricks and techniques in the many projects that I take on! But If anyone needs any help with crochet just ask away!

Nom! Nom! Nom! Crochet Piranha Plant Scarf!

I have been a gamer for as long as I can remember and I'm very proud of this! I have been playing around with the look and love this! 

Voila! 

This one is for a customer and I hope they are happy! Might make this one of my "for sale" patterns.

Crochet Shoelaces!!!

Ok so i'm a converse junkie! My "go to sneakers" is always my all stars and I love shoelaces! I don't know why I haven't thought of this until now especially since I have had all types of shoelaces. But with this I can make so many different colors!!! yay! If you learn anything from my blog is that I love colors!

You will need:
Yarn
Crochet Hook
Old Shoelaces
Tape

Depending on how big and loose you want your shoelaces depends on the hook so play around and get a feel. I used a F hook.

Grab the pair of laces that were in the pair of shoes you want to replace and just chain that length and then finish off.

Tape both ends and cut extra and a lil bit of the tape off the end to give a clean look. (there are other methods for this, play around, maybe try putting a dab of glue at the end or glitter glue.)

Turban Style Bow Ear Warmer Headband Pattern

I am so happy to have some time now to dedicate just to my patterns! I have had so many people asking and loved the comments on cutoutandkeep.net. I'm so excited, some will be free and some will be available for purchase. For my first pattern to share is one of my favorite accessories! Even though spring is here most of the states are STILL getting snow! Sorry guys maybe this will help a little! 

This pattern is great for noobs and I cannot stress how important it is to check you gauge before starting a project especially for beginners. All crocheters have different tensions, I tend to be kinda in the middle. I remember when I was teaching myself, usually skipped over that and wasted so much time when I could have checked my gauge and adjusted my hook size then. For those who do not know what I mean by gauge, think of it like making a little sample fabric, you are given an amount of stitches and rows to make and measurement that should match. I may take a few tries for some and others the first time. 

NOTES: You will be working in rounds and don't worry too much about where you join and how it looks (I'm so picky about that) because we will be covering all that up. I have found that I Love This Yarn tends to be a little thinner than Red Heart so if you are using Red Heart or similar texture then start with your H hook and G hook for I Love This Yarn. This is made for an adult woman approx 20in - 23 in

YARN USED: Worsted Weight (Red Heart or I Love This Yarn!)

HOOK: G or H Hook (depending on what yarn you use and your gauge)

NEED TO KNOW ABBR. & STITCHES:

• sl kn - Slip Knot
• ch - Chain
• sl st - Slip Stitch
• hdc - Half Double Crochet

GAUGE: 9 st x 4 rows = 3in x 2in


Start with a slip knot.
Ch 60 make sure that the ch is straight and not twisted, then sl st into the f1st ch.

Note: You will be working on the backside of the ch that way you will have a nice clean look.

Row 1 - 7: ch 1, hdc in each st around, sl st to join and turn;

Finish off and weave in strings. I like to leave about 4 in.

Fold together to make bow; Fold it up at the seam and use the hdc stitch to help it should fold very easy. Make a slip knot around where you bunched it, pull the slip knot tight and wrap around to cover the knot and make it look clean; You can make the center as small or large as you want it here;

Finish off and weave in strings.

Voila! You now have a cute new accessory to show off! Also in the center i sometimes like to clip a button or small brooch to add a little flare. Have fun! Pac Man Ghosties Pattern

Here is another pattern I would like to share! This is one of my earlier projects and I just love these guys! I use one at a pincushion and the other are on the bookshelf hanging out! I had them for sale in my shop but I got attached so the little guys are staying with me! :D

You will need:
Red, Orange, Aqua and Pink Worsted Weight Yarn
G Hook
Black & White Felt
Hot Glue & Gun
Scissors

Abbreviations:
sl st - Slip Stitch
sc - Single Crochet
hdc - Half Double Crochet
dc - Double Crochet

Notes: Need to know Magic ring.You'll be working in rounds. Make sure to shape your ghost as you are working.

Top Part of Ghost:
Magic Ring

Rnd 1 - ch 1, sc 6, sl st in the first sc;
Rnd 2 - ch 1, sc in the same st as ch 1, 2 sc in each st until last st, sc in last st, sl st in the first sc;
Rnd 3 - ch 1, sc in the same st as ch 1, sc 1, *2 sc, sc 1* repeat * until the last st, sc in last st, sl st in the first sc;
Rnd 4 - ch 1, sc in the same st as ch 1, sc 1, *2 sc, sc in next 2 st* repeat* until last st, sc in last st, sl st in the first sc;
Rnd 5-11 - ch 1, sc in each st around, sl st in first sc to join;
Rnd 12 - ch 1, *hdc, dc, hdc, sl st* repeat* end with a sl st; Finish off;


Bottom Part:
Magic Ring
For this piece with will repeat the rounds 1-4, make sure to shape it flat as your working. Leave a long tail to sl st to other piece.

Eyes: (Make 2)
Cut out small circles of the felt of the white and smaller one of the black

Attach eyes to top piece; Now you can stuff with your filling; sl st bottom piece between rounds 11 and 12; finish off and hide strings;
